The Island County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with photos or videos of Tuesday’s fire and explosion to share them with investigators HERE. Swiger acknowledged it’s difficult to get water to a large fire call in rural areas. In addition to using their four water tenders carrying 2,500 gallons of water each, the department had help from multiple agencies, including Oak Harbor, Mount Erie and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Swiger told KOMO News the Seattle bomb squad found illegal explosives on the property, adding this tragedy could have been avoided. According to the Island County Sheriff’s Office, the incident prompted a swift response from fire, EMS, and law enforcement officials. Fire and rescue crews had the flames contained to a small area as of Wednesday afternoon.

The New Life House Ranch is located just south of Point Arena and comprises 320 acres of both ranch and agricultural land.
